چکیده

Octave Landry was one of a long list of fine 19th century clinicians who died very young and whose discoveries in physiology and descriptions of new clinical pictures helped found current-day neurology. In 1852, Landry proposed a new take on the physiology of sensation which laid the ground for the concepts of proprioception and stereognosis. He also described the clinical picture of a rapidly progressing ascending paralysis, which in 1859 prefigured Guillain-Barré syndrome. In discussing his very active life, we will mention the hydrotherapies in fashion at the time and the pleasures of Parisian society. Landry’s career was also marked by terrible cholera epidemics, one of which killed him at age 39, in the prime of his working life as a devoted physician. Copyright © 2013 S. Objective: One of the most prevalent sensory problems in cerebral palsy is Astereognosis which has special importance in daily manual functions. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of hand stereognosis using common objects and geometric shapes in children with spastic hemiplegia and diplegia. Materials & Methods: In this cross sectional study, 20 children with cerebral palsy...

Comparison of cerebral activation involved in oral and manual stereognosis.

Brain activity associated with manual stereognosis has been the focus of increasing recent research effort. However, although oral stereognosis, defined as the ability to recognize and discriminate the food bolus in the mouth, is important for mastication and swallowing, there is little information available about the neural network relating to this function. In the present study, cerebral acti...

Design of a Two Octave Gysel Power-Divider Using DGS and DMS

This paper proposes a two way L and S band Gysel power divider/combiner that uses line to ground resistors. Step by step methods to obtain a wide isolation and transmission bandwidth are presented. A design that uses five resistors is selected and optimized based on Quasi Newton method. Then the Defected Microstrip Structure (DMS) and Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is used to obtain better tra...
